Abrasive grinding wheels and cutting-off wheels damaged or improperly used could maim or kill. No one shall mount any abrasive wheel unless he has been trained and appointed in accordance with the regulations. All other users must observe the precautions required by those regulations.

Grinding wheels have to run at high speeds in order to carry out the grinding process. Peripheral speeds can be in excess of 200 miles per hour. If a grinding wheel brakes whilst running, pieces fly from the wheel and can cause serious injuries to any person in the vicinity of the breakage. The speed marked on the grinding wheel should never be exceeded. Always use a guard, and wear safety goggles.
